About the client

Hadrian School are a local school who cater for the needs of pupils aged between two and eleven years old with a range of additional needs including complex, severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
The school wanted to construct an extension on to their existing sports hall containing the Rob Armstrong Rebound Therapy Centre which is to include a range of additional facilities which would benefit the children and the local community. We were asked to provide a quote for a heating system which would be able to evenly and efficiently heat the hall.

Due to the large size of the new sports hall we informed the client that the best option would be to fit two 30kW PTUL radiant heaters incorporating the branches fed from the plant room. The existing plant room had a 6” gas pipe header installed with various branches feeding the existing heating and hot water plant. We allowed for adequately sized steel pipework from the existing plant room to be installed over the roof of the building before dropping down to low level adjacent to the existing gas pipe that feeds the current sports hall. The pipework will then connect to new underground PE pipework which we have allowed for between the existing and the new building rising to above ground and changing to steel pipe to enter the new building above footing level.
